Our Champions’ voices and leadership are catalyzing a different future for young people around the world.
Our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) consists of Adolescent Health Champions from around India with a passion for gender equality and health equity. We believe youth should be central to decision-making in AHC. As such, our YAB has been instrumental in co-developing our programming, curriculum, mobile application virtual programming, research, and more.
Yasmeen is an aspiring astronaut who takes initiative in every opportunity she participates in through the Youth Advisory Board. She loves making AHC content interesting and relatable to youth. Her goals include making the world a better place for women as well as ending gender discrimination, religious wars, and stigma around mental health and substance abuse. She is very interested in becoming an astronaut one day.
Twinkle (pronouns: she/her) has been influential in many parts of AHC including mobile app design and curriculum development. Twinkle utilizes her role as a Champion to spread awareness about COVID-19, Gender, and Puberty through virtual teaching. Through her work, Twinkle would like to eliminate social stigmas and inequalities related to gender by educating those around her and in her community. Twinkle serves as an inspiration to others to stand up for what is right.
Tuba (pronouns: she/her) is an Adolescent Health Champion whose goal is to clear misunderstandings and ill stigmas surrounding mental health. Tuba plans on studying English Literature and Psychology, and is passionate about the mental health of adolescents. Through her work, she hopes to spread awareness around adolescent mental health in her community. Her life's purpose is to stand up for what matters and make the world a better place.
Pawan is a passionate ally who works to spread information and positive messages surrounding gender and equality. He wants adolescents to treat people of all genders equally. He has been involved in peer education around Gender and Relationships as well as Puberty during AHC virtual programming sessions. Pawan’s goal in life is to help end gender-based violence and spread equality so that people of all genders will be treated fairly and allowed equal opportunities.
Smit (pronouns: he/him) is an aspiring entrepreneur who aims to better humanity through his work. He wishes that all adolescents get to understand the changes during youth development and learn to respect others regardless of gender, race, skin colour, etc. He works to establish a safe circle where any person can approach him for letting out their problems. He believes humanity is the greatest religion which should come above all, and hopes to contribute towards humankind as much as possible.
Samruddhi is a passionate mental health advocate who works to spread awareness surrounding mental health and substance abuse. Her mission is to ensure that each and every one of her classmates know how to overcome mental health challenges and issues surrounding addiction. While she knows that it's a challenging task, her goal is to use her capabilities and role as an Adolescent Health Champion to shift stigmas around mental health globally.
Neha is a thoughtful leader whose goal is to spread awareness about common challenges faced by adolescents. Adolescents are the future of India, and as such, they must have the knowledge of the phases of adolescence and the challenges they may experience. Her goal is to unite all adolescents together to improve the world, such that there are no longer judgmental and narrow-minded people who hinder youth from achieving their goals. She also hopes to work for peace until it is achieved.
Daniya is an ambitious student who believes that education is a powerful tool in eliminating inequalities. She is passionate about using her skills to educate her fellow adolescents on gender inequality, poverty, and environmental sustainability. Daniya believes that adolescents are the leaders of tomorrow, and hopes to empower adolescents to realize their full potential by making responsible decisions related to their health and well-being. Through AHC, she has been working to make the world a better place for adolescents of all backgrounds.
Hiba is an Adolescent Health Champion who helps people around her through acts of kindness and spreading positivity. She is enthusiastic about creating awareness around anything that affects adolescent health. She tries to create a positive environment for adolescents where everyone can be themselves, share their opinions and stories without being judged, and where adolescents can speak up for themselves without being scared of humiliation.
Aryan (pronouns: he/him) is an inquisitive thinker and problem solver who is passionate about the mental health of his fellow adolescents. Aryan works to uplift the mental well-being of the adolescents he interacts with. He wishes to make the world more equitable in the future by advocating for change in the minds of youth. He aspires to have a career in the field of technology and solve grand technical challenges faced by humanity.
Adeenah (pronouns: she/her) is an aspiring cardiothoracic surgeon who wants adolescents to realize the importance of mental health and gender equality. Adeenah wants to end discrimination and injustice in the world. Through being a part of AHC and the YAB, her goal is to end gender discrimination, educational inequality and any other form of inequality around the world. She is passionate about science, the human body, and communication.
Avani is an ethusiastic health advocate who works to educate youth and spread awareness about health. She is passionate about making adolescents feel comfortable learning about the changes they experience during their development. Her goal is to bring about gender equality and to end discriminatory social stigmas. She hopes her efforts can help end hate and spread love and happiness.
Ayesha (pronouns: she/her) is an aspiring cosmetic surgeon who is passionate about creating awareness around gender equality and mental health of youth. She is particularly interested in empowering women and girls. She aims to build a free and non-judgmental society, where everyone has the right to education and works together to resolve societal problems. She also wants to ensure that people can elevate their voices against societal wrongs. She is fascinated by topics such as psychology, cosmetology and sociology.
Disha (pronouns: she/her) is a future psychologist who wants all adolescents to be both physically and mentally healthy. She wishes for the world to be a better place to live in for everyone, where opinions can be shared freely. She wishes for everyone to be given opportunities based on their merit, and not based on biased stereotypes. She aspires to live in a world where all are respected equally for being who they are. In the future, she wishes to dedicate her life to helping people have good mental health.
